Don’t miss it this time!

The Powder House had its grand opening at 10:00 A.M. on September 20th.     Unless you’re retired, work nightshift, or worse, unemployed; the chances are you missed it.

Well, tomorrow will be an excellent chance to inspect the Powder House inside and out along with a Civil War encampment from 1:00 to 4:00.       Even the weather will be cooperating though I would suggest dressing warmly.

There will be musket firing demonstrations at 1:30 and 3:30 and touring guides to explain the facility.       People forget that our militia (the National Guard Armory) is one of the oldest in the Nation and it is fitting to have this important Powder House available for locals and visitors alike to inspect right next door.

While you are out and about, don’t forget the Newburyport Lighthouse on Plum Island will be open for tours also from 1:00 to 4:00 and in the morning, the Highland Cemetery will be having a tour  and there will be open houses at our local museums.

Don’t miss these rare opportunities!
