Other than a great picture of Richard Hordon; there wasn’t much in the way of new information in today’s third installment on “The Port and Preservation”. I would have loved to hear more about those who fancy opposing the winning formula of an LHD.
Of course, if the Newburyport Libertarian Party which has transformed itself into this new organization, PN:SHR gets its way; Newburyport will get to go its way into the Twilight. Historians will again note another downturn in Newburyport’s many downturns; and we’ll cease to be the regional leader that we’ve been enjoying in our recent little “Renaissance”.
And if the opponents are defeated, and great success comes to the City; the Daily News will duly note a couple of decades later how ‘Everyone’ was in favor of the LHD and the great benefits it brought. People love to jump on a bandwagon. As journalists, they’ll look in every nook and cranny for an old antagonist and they’ll search in vain.
As it’s been said, history is written by the victors.
Now, this fight will be going on for a couple of years. All of us will get to sit back (or jump in) and make History.
It will certainly be an interesting time!
